One Movement, One Future
Across Washington, working people are winning because our labor movement is united and building real power together. When we act collectively, we deliver—securing unemployment insurance for striking workers, banning captive audience meetings to protect the right to organize, advancing the Millionaire’s Tax, strengthening wage equity and workplace safety protections, and expanding collective bargaining rights.
These are shared victories—won through coordinated advocacy, organizing, and solidarity across Washington’s labor movement.
Since 2023, together with our affiliates, we have advanced a shared vision: One Movement, One Future—bringing workers across industries, regions, and identities together to win lasting change and secure a stronger future for working families.
Our strength comes from each other—supporting strikes and contract fights across industries, organizing and expanding worker power statewide, investing in the next generation through Path to Power, the Organizing Institute, and Union Summer, and building deeper unity across affiliates, sectors, and communities.
Meeting This Moment, Together
Workers face real challenges: attacks on our rights, rising inequality, and technologies that threaten to replace or devalue our work.
But together, we are stronger.
Powered by union members across our state; and aligning organizing, political, and policy strategies, we are building a movement strong enough to meet this moment and shape what comes next.
Priorities
Building What Comes Next
Building on our shared wins since 2023, we are moving forward with a clear set of priorities to grow worker power and secure the future for working people.
Together, we will:
- Protect jobs, grow good union work, and defend the power of workers to win fair wages, strong benefits, and safe working conditions
- Defend and advance workers’ rights by confronting union-busting, fighting back against so-called “right to work” attacks, and investing in training, organizing, and coalition building to connect racial, gender, and economic justice
- Grow solidarity by expanding union affiliation and supporting organizing drives to build on the momentum of the 50,000 new union members organized in 2025, strengthening unity across our movement statewide
- Build and exercise independent political power to elect pro-worker leaders and advance a bold, worker-centered agenda, including developing a strong bench of union members running for office, to ensure working people are represented at every level of government
- Advance worker-centered standards for AI—protecting workers from harm, ensuring access to training, elevating worker voice, and guaranteeing working people share in the gains of new technology
Our Commitment
This movement is built by all of us.
Together, we will keep winning for working people and lead the nation in what’s possible for workers, families, and communities, no matter who is in office.
One Movement. One Future.

APRIL SIMS
For President
I’m here because a shop steward invited me to a union meeting. Someone saw leadership in me long before I saw it in myself and told me if I stepped up I could make a difference. For more than 25 years, I’ve been stepping up and working to make a difference for workers, families and communities, and today I’m proud to serve as President of the WSLC. I’m running for re-election to keep building on the progress we’ve made together, leading a united and growing labor movement that delivers real results: good union jobs, a fair economy that works for working people, and stronger communities across our state. Together, we’re proving what’s possible when workers are organized and united—better lives for our families and thriving communities where everyone can succeed. I believe in organizing, in representation, and in the strength we build when we stand together. This is our moment to keep winning for working people. One Movement, One Future.

CHERIKA CARTER
For Secretary Treasurer
I’ve been a union member my entire working life, and today, I’m proud to serve as Secretary-Treasurer of the WSLC. I’m running for re-election because this moment demands leadership that is bold, strategic, and grounded in our shared values. I first walked through the doors of a union hall at 16 for a free movie ticket, but it was solidarity, the power of people coming together, and the fight for something bigger than ourselves that kept me coming back. That experience shaped my commitment to this movement and the work I do today. As Secretary-Treasurer, I’ve helped strengthen our financial foundation, secure resources to grow our movement, and invest in winning good union jobs and a fair economy for working people. I’m committed to continuing to grow our movement, strengthen our foundation, and ensure every worker has a voice. Together, we’ve built real power, and there’s so much more to do. One Movement, One Future.
